| Pouch Cove Foundation Fundraiser 2007
The Pouch Cove Foundation acquired a 18,000 square foot former elementary school several years ago to house its expanding residency program. Though the school was the daily home for two hundred small children for thirty years, the Town of Pouch Cove initiated complaints to the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador claiming the building was not safe to house six artists. The result was that the Foundation was shut in the summer of 2006 and required to embark on a series of expensive reports and renovation upgrades to bring the building up to 2007 National Building Code standards. As the Foundation does not receive any government or arts agency funding for its activities it conceived this fundraising art auction and party to raise the necessary funds to complete all the work necessary and reopen the program in April 2007. We appreciate the support of all the artists, friends and collectors who will make this event memorable for everyone involved with the event.
